After a great tarpon season we are now concentrating on Permit and bonefish. There are still a few migrating tarpon around and lots of smaller resident fish. The winds have been light and the flats fishing could not be any better. Give me a call or shoot me a email if you have any questions or if you want me to hold a day for you.IMG_1739

Barracuda – February 4, 2013

With our first cold front of the season, I’m happy to report the big barracuda fishing is red hot.  When the water cools on the flat, the big three —  tarpon, bonefish and permit head for deeper water.  Thats the bad news.  The good news is this is when the big cudas flood the flats in big numbers.  In the afternoons when the sun has a chance to heat up the flats, we do get a few shots at permit, but as long as the barracudas and jacks keep pulling drags like a car going by; you won’t hear me complaing.  If you never have had the chance to fish winter  time barracudas you should give it a try. You won’t be disappointed.

Fishing in the Keys has been great due to our mild winter. If this weather keeps up, we will most likely have an early tarpon season. I still have some days available for tarpon season, so let me know if you would like me to hold some days for you. Don’t wait until the last second!

Florida Keys Fishing Guide – Cudjoe Key, Florida
Full time, experienced, personable and professional guide.
U.S.C.G. Master Captain licensed and fully insured.

I hope you get the chance to come down and fish with me on the fabulous gin clear flats of the Florida Keys. I fish between Marathon and Key West including Big Pine Key, Little Torch, Ramrod, Summerland, Cudjoe, Sugarloaf, the Marquesas, and the backcountry of Everglades National Park. I fish out of my house in Cudjoe Key, but quite often trailer my Maverick flats boat. The wind, water temperature and tides determine where we will fish on any given day.

Stay tuned for my fishing reports.
