Barracuda – February 4, 2013

With our first cold front of the season, I’m happy to report the big barracuda fishing is red hot.  When the water cools on the flat, the big three —  tarpon, bonefish and permit head for deeper water.  Thats the bad news.  The good news is this is when the big cudas flood the flats in big numbers.  In the afternoons when the sun has a chance to heat up the flats, we do get a few shots at permit, but as long as the barracudas and jacks keep pulling drags like a car going by; you won’t hear me complaing.  If you never have had the chance to fish winter  time barracudas you should give it a try. You won’t be disappointed.
